Scotland

Travel Recommendations

Book your flight as early as possible through Ryanair.com for cheap rates! We flew into Glasgow airport, but would recommend flying to Edinburgh. There is so much more to see and do there. Getting around Edinburgh is really easy, we walked everywhere. Remember to pack warm!!! It was still really cold in May.

Places to Stay

When we were in Edinburgh we stayed in a Bed and Breakfast. It was really nice, but kind of far from the city center. There is a "new town" and and "old town" in Edinburgh. If you want to be in the middle of everything we suggest staying in "old town".

We stayed one night in a hostel in Glasgow. It was cheap and the accomodations weren't bad, but it seemed that the best deals in Scotland were at the B&Bs.

What to See and Do

-Check out the Free Walking Tour!!! This tour takes you all over Edinburgh. You get to see some of the history and lots of pretty old buildings.

-The Elephant House is a quaint little coffee shop in "old town" Edinburgh.  JK Rowling wrote her first Harry Potter book here.

-Take the Ghost Tour! This spooky tour of Edinburgh takes place at night. The guide will give a detailed account of the darker history of Edinburgh.

-Visit the Filling Station located on the Royal Mile. This was a nice restaurant that captured the feel of the local culture. If you get a chance try and meet some locals. Their culture is very interesting and they don't mind sharing it with you!
